Well apparently writeup copping is not going to be a thing in this game. Sad to see the Hardy Boys go as well.
Possible guess at a theme: media in which the detective appeared? Town was from books, neutral from video games, possibly mafia is TV/film? Obviously too soon to run with yet, just putting the idea out there.

Though I will wait for him to request specific pieces of information before I give them. I don't see why I need to give more information than necessary when I have already claimed. |

That's the problem with that theory, I would wager most of the characters in this game have been in multiple media. The Hardy Boys had a TV show and Professor Layton had an animated film.
